We acknowledge that this trail is located on the traditional territories of Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (Ute) and Eastern Shoshone.
Our secret gem. Primrose Overlook is the one that everyone wants to know “where is that!” The overlook is stunning, but the trail is also filled with beautiful trees and opens into big clearings. Primrose is a perfect hike to catch the sunset.
Parking is limited at the trailhead, so be aware of that on the weekends. If you want to watch the sunset when you get to the overlook, make sure you bring a headlamp for the way down, especially in the fall when the sun sets earlier, it gets dark quick!
We’ve done Primrose in the summer and again in the fall, and they were stunning both times. You get beautiful views of Timp on the west and the rolling hills and mountains towards Heber on the east. Try at sunset, and if you’re lucky you’ll catch some crazy clouds and the perfect backdrop.
